Good question. I have not found that many good books about German history in general. It's always WWII, of course. Still, I recommend this one by a fellow countryman of yours: MacGregor, Neil "Germany. Memories of a Nation" - 2014 https://momobookblog.blogspot.com/2018/04/macgregor-neil-germany-memories-of.html And then there is one by a Dutch journalist but it's about Europe in the twentieth century which includes, of course, Germany: Mak, Geert "In Europe. Travels through the twentieth century" - 2004 https://momobookblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/mak-geert-in-europe-travels-through.html But I will definitely have a look and see what else there is around that might be interesting for you.

I *mostly* enjoyed by education 'journey'... Especially when I could actually CHOOSE what to study!
So did I. I loved school, even in the more difficult years. But I know a lot of pupils don't.

Obviously, things change once you reach a certain age and know that you have to know things. LOL
