Not sure.... It still intrigues me that not TOO long ago we thought that our Galaxy WAS the Universe and that the other galaxies we could see where actually gas clouds in OUR galaxy.... It must've REALLY blown peoples minds when they realised just how BIG our (observable) Universe actually is!
I'm on a few e-mail lists (old school I know) & LOVE getting pix like this. The new stuff coming in - especially from James Webb is STUNNING. We are learning SO much about our Universe right now....
To be honest, I don't think anyone really groks the size of the universe. Its scale is out of sync with our ability to cognitively grasp, aside from using abstractions like exponents and such.

I think that's one reason people like Brian Cox likes to concentrate on THIS Galaxy. I think that's quite big enough to be going on with!
