I watched Dr Who from the early days but 'came of age' during the Pertwee and Baker years. For me Tom Baker will always be *the* Doctor. He was STRANGE in a rather odd and sometimes decidedly dangerous way. Totally believable as an alien somehow pretending (mostly successfully) to be human.
Being madly in love with Sarah Jane Smith/Elizabeth Sladen helped of course!
Tennant wasn't the worst of the new bunch though....
i admit to preferring Tom Baker... his zany performance was classically alien...
