  2. (Off-topic)

I imagine you'll share your thoughts tomorrow, but I just caught the news that the UK has left the EU. My own feelings are mixed -- I sympathize with wanting to be freed from outside bureaucrats, but I also look for a future where people work more together as opposed to against -- but I hope for your sake and for the European community as a whole, especially the Scots and north Irish, that something good grows from the potential chaos to ensue.

  3. @ Mudpuddle: Fantastic isn't it? The artist is Ayhan Tomak, a Turkish painter and wood sculptor, born in Antakya-Turkey in 1970.

@ Stephen: Yeah, I heard some morons setting off fireworks last night @ 23:00 as we 'left' the EU as if that's something to celebrate. I'll think about it over the weekend and maybe post something on Monday.

BTW - How are you getting used to life in an Absolute Monarchy? It didn't go all that well for Louis XIV so at least there's THAT hope..... [grin]

  4. I stopped paying DC attention years ago, with the exception of foreign policy. I've expected nothing good for thirteen years running, and am never disappointed. ;)

(I mark my total political disillusionment to a moment in '07, listening to Obama and Hillary butting heads. Something just clicked, I turned the radio off, and I've regarded DC with a mix of fatalistic detachment and contempt ever since.)
