Machine guns....close range. Pity their hearing in that room. When I was touring the coastal fort and realized how strongly my voice echoed in it, I can't imagine how LOUD coastal guns would have been inside.
Oh, guns are *way* louder IRL than in the movies [grin] My primary school best friend's dad was a gunner in the Navy on a battleship in WW2. He was deaf as a post!
The photo is of a French resistance group during the liberation of Paris in 1944. The guy in the background is using a German MP-40. The guy in the foreground is using a Russian SMG. Which is **interesting**. Where did he get it? Presumably the unit is Communist but still... How did *Russian* machine guns get to Paris in 1944???
