There was a first-gen TV set in the Harmony Club building I used to hang out, although it was a horizonally-oriented set; the screen was a small oval off to the side.

It MAY have been the object in the bottom left of this photo, but it's been so long I can't say with confidence. I don't think so, though, as I'm almost positive the screen was on the right.

I'm *amazed* that anyone would buy this! How close would you have to get to the screen to see anything and what exactly were they showing?

I'm guessing it's the novelty factor. Still a powerful thing now. I can remember when 23&Me cost $1000 and it still had plenty of takers.

Yes, there will always be 'first adopters' no matter what the technology is I guess...
