  1. I've never really listened to Nina Simone, but I dug this. She has a very expressive voice. You can feel the experience and pain in it.

  2. This song in particular tears my heart out every time I hear it.

Funnily I first really heard Nina when I watched the french film 'Nikita' (later re-made into 'The Assassin' with Bridget Fonda). I've been collecting her stuff ever since. She's *really* good.

  3. I loved 'Nikita' and have liked a lot of Luc Besson's work (Fifth Element and especially The Professional).

  4. Beautiful, Beautiful....I haven't heard Nina Simone in a long long time....And I have always loved that song....is it Jacques Brel? Oh...the memory is not as good as it used to be....! Well, it is a gorgeous song...and heartbreaking, indeed.

I don't know. Nina is singing the French version of "If you go away on a Summer's day" I have no idea who wrote the song though... I just love the way it sounds... in a heart rending sort of way.. [grin].
