I think they're quite a distance from it. The ship looks to be fairly big. I'm guessing that the yellow looking ball in the middle is probably the crew compartment.
I love the old style rocket ships. Totally unnecessary streamlining but the look *so* cool!
Kind love the unnecessary space-armour on the astronauts too.
