I remember back in the 80's when I was @ College the temperature one winter got to -26 about 30 miles south of us. Stupidly I tried to walk to college that day. I was that far [holds up finger and thumb *really* close] from lying down in the snow & dying before I decided to go back home!
I much prefer RTS to anything else. I like to have the luxury of thinking about the game I'm playing rather than running around trying ti kill as many people as possible before getting blown away yourself.
I think it's a quality game. Most FPS don't include much of a story and while this story isn't the greatest ever, it is passable. Better than average game play as well.
If you like RTS *and* the fantasy genre (which I think you do) check out Dragon Age. It's not a traditional RTS game, more like a RPG with RTS elements (pausing during battles to set commands for your party). It's a good game with an excellent story. I heard it's better on PC than XBox 360.

Oh, I can totally lose myself in RTS - it can get all very Zen-like at times [grin]. In a decent game - especially when I'm fighting for my life - it's almost like meditation... no-mind [laughs]

Air-strikes and such like as a reward for kill-streaks. It gets very annoying when harrier after harrier or gun-ship after gun-ship show up to blast everyone in sight. Quite boring actually. This is in the multi-player matches....

Ah, well I haven't played multi-player actually which I guess is maybe why I didn't understand you. Thought I do know what you mean because you can do that a few times with the drones in the campaign.

Yes, Thanks Scott for clarifying. I was surprised since I didn't think UK got as cold as Chicago - but since Al Gore invented global warming, anything is possible.

Last night in Scotland it reached -18 degrees C (0.4 degrees F). It's expected to drop to -20 C (-4F) over the weekend. Last night here was a comparatively balmy -8 C (17.6F)

I do feel your pain, as it is currently -25C here and on its way down. For the past several days we've had lows down near -30C and highs that have not been much better than -15C to -10C. At least this is pretty near normal for the upper midwest US, so we can't really complain.

I'm not sure that is colder than it is here Laura. I'm assuming he means -6C, which is about 21F here. Which I would love.

ReplyDeleteI like my FPS games to be less realistic. I've never gotten into Call of Duty or Medal of Honor. I prefer Halo and other Sc-Fi/Fanatasy games.
