I was certainly impressed with her in the first Star Wars film. That kind of no nonsense feisty female - especially in SF movies was a pretty rare beast. Understanding her (IIRC) bizarre upbringing I'm more surprised that she turned out reasonable normal than they found drugs in her system (I think) when she died.
i felt sorry for her demise, especially the drugs and stuff... fame didn't agree with her very well...
