I like deserts - or at least the idea of deserts. I've never been in one or even on the edge of one but they look pretty awesome on TV and in the movies.
I think a day trip into one would be interesting. Walking across one if your life depended on it? Not so much......
well, some people like sand...

i spent a week in Death Valley studying Geology years ago; fascinating place but VERY hot...
