i never noticed that about vampires... or books either, actually...
Books definitely go yellow if you leave them in direct sunlight for too long. If you leave them TOO long to go brittle and disintegrate!
we don't have a lot of that stuff, whatchacallit, sunsheen or something, here in Oregon...
