LOL- The security team that often beamed down with Kirk & Co (AKA 'Red Shirts') had the habit of dying on away missions, so much so they became a cliché which became (as these things do) an Internet meme..

There's even a novel 'Redshirts' (2012) based on it by John Scalzi. I haven't read it but it does sound kind of funny.
I'm always torn in those cases. Should I read it and what if I don't like it?
Risky, especially as you don't much like SF. If I see it cheap I'll pick it up and let you (and everyone!) know what I thought of it.
