  1. And yet, here we are! With Eleanor's NICU stay and then all the kidney stuff and surgeries all before age three, we were looking at about $125K in bills. Luckily I could apply for assistance and we ended up only paying around $3K-ish.

    1. My ultrasound last week cost me...... [drum roll]..... *nothing*... as has all of my other doctor/hospital visits..... Your 'healthcare' system SUCKS. But you already knew that..... [grin]

    2. And it is absolutely disgusting that insurance is tied to a job. A few more insurance CEOs needed to be shown the error of their ways, me thinks.

  2. Wouldn't it make a million times more sense for your insurance to be tied *directly* to you rather than a company? That seems MUCH more logical and would cut out a lot of issues.

  3. Not 100% sure but I think we had an insurance type health scheme up to the end of WW2 before we switched over the the NHS. I really need to read up on that.... AFAIK the insurance was on the person/family though and had nothing to do with work.
