Well, not ONLY to enrage you.... [lol] Looking on the bright side... He'll be gone in a few years and his 'brand' will have become SO toxic that the political swing to the *Left* will be breathtaking. It's definitely something to look forward to!
Hopefully sooner than in a few years. I've never actively wished so hard for someone's death before. Trying to speak it into existence but so far he is hanging on. Ugh.
How much control does the British government have over TV/radio? I know you all can't have TV sets without owning licenses for them, but do other TV and radio channels exist outside the BBC?
Well, all radio & TV organisations are licenced by the Government but I understand that's pretty similar to the US. There are 4 BBC TV channels & (I think) 6 BBC Radio channels. These aren't *controlled* by the Government but the head guy is appointed by the Government & they Government set up how much the licence fee is, so they definitely have an influence.
Initially only the BBC existed (TV wise), then we had ITV (Independent Television), then Channel 4, then Channel 5 then we had the cable/satellite explosion and a bazzilion channels which aren't controlled but licenced by the Government for broadcast. Then, of course, you still have some pirate radio channels and, if you have the right equipment, you can pick up foreign channels directly.
The Government can (and I think has) pressured the BBC to cut bits of programmes or remove programmes completely, but that's VERY rare and (often) very controversial & can result in people resigning in protest and much bad feeling all round. But it has very little *direct* influence on most other channels short of a word in the right ear. No doubt its a bit more complicated than that... but that's the gist as far as I know.
Thank you! I truly can't wait for that day. It won't be the end of the madness quite yet, and it will take years to fix this, but we will do it. I saw a TikTok the other day of someone saying, "When it happens, I hope I'm in a public place with a lot of peeople, and someone starts singing, "Good neeeeeews!" and the rest of the crowd joins in singing 'No One Mourns the Wicked' from, of course, Wicked.

Do you just post things to enrage me at this point, lol? At least I know we stand on the same side, but god this world is exhausting.

Let's hope he'll be gone soon. Sarah, we are all on your side. Isn't that surprising, that avid readers all oppose him? ;)
