I WONDER: what will become of us.
I REGRET: very little.
I AM NOT: a Number. I am a Free Man.
I DANCE: as if no one was watching.
I SING: surpisingly well.
I CRY: during the sad parts in movies.

Yes, Let's Get "Virtually" Married! (lol)

You better hotfoot it to LA quick, offers like that don't come along every day!
Whilst I don't want to marry you, that is an interesting meme and I like your answers, if we ever met (which I doubt) I'm sure we would get along, vegetarianism not withstanding :-)

Naomi - I *really* don't know what to say... Thank you! That's actually my first marriage proposal virtual or otherwise. I'm quite taken aback.... I do try to be honest (both with myself & other people) though I did think for a while about posting this (for me) rather personal list.

skywolf - I didn't always understand the ins & outs of 'The Prisoner' but I did like it. Patrick McGoohan was superb as Number 6 and was one of my teenage icons.

Thanks! I'm sure we'd have a good chat over a few pints of real ale.... You never know... one day maybe..

Marriage is a religious legalistic contract which seeks to legitimize the union in the eyes of the state and, usually, in the eyes of one or more gods. It is obsolete and should be abolished, with something else in its place.

Frankly, I think that the way to solve the whole "marriage for homosexuals (and others?)" issues is to establish a "civil union" [CU] which confers all of the benefits (are there any that the state confers?), legal rights and obligations, and societal stamp of approval as a solemnized event of troth. Further, this CU would be open to any two or more individuals above the age of consent (or legally adopted by the standards customary to that location) and would establish a fundament for such issues as partial divorce (removing one or more individuals from the CU), adding partners to the CU, the responsibilities of the CU to offspring resulting from the union. It could also specify "term limits" (though it could be renewed upon consent of all partners), ownership of assets and prenuptial agreements, relationships to offspring of previous CUs, etc.

That fact notwithstanding, I would probably marry someone sight unseen who would give me a full-body massage on a daily basis. A trial period of a few years might be in order, though.

A 'lease with the option to buy' perhaps? ;)

The one thing that stuck in my mind... who's Carol. (not that you have to answer, it's just intriguing I guess).

Very intersting to see a more personal side of you...

Laura - I thought that a limited term marriage contract is a great idea....

Carol was an ex-girlfriend of mine. She was both the best thing & the worst thing that's happened to me (so far). It was a roller-coaster relationship that had a great deal of impact on my life and helped shape the person I am today. I'll be forever grateful for the time we spent together despite the heartache it caused me.

I don't post much personal stuff I know - probably because I'm a fairly private person and to be honest don't think that my life has been that interesting from the outside....

If that were a personal ad, it would have hooked me. I'll have to get in the virtual line behind Naomi. ;-)
