I don't know how it works over there, but here, the majority of k-12 teachers we know are conservative and/or Republican; and the majority of college professors we know are liberal and/or Democrats. I wonder if increased education is a previously overlooked cure for Conservatism/Republicanism?
It's a *long* time since I was at school and as I have no kids (that I know of) I don't know if things have changed much since my day. Anyway, as far as I can remember the majority of my teachers where from the Left rather than the Right. Definitely by the time I got to college (all three of them ) my tutors were definitely Left wing - actually ex-hippies generally. My university lecturers were Lefties too, indeed I'm pretty convinced that one of my recent tutors was a full blown Marxist......
