I think I must be missing some critical gene of humanity. I remember when I first read _The Diary of Anne Frank_ and read her words that she believed people were mostly good at heart. I didn't think so then and I don't now. I prefer the company of very few people, many animals and when I have the time, many good books. I could easily be a hermit because people in general tend to annoy me more than anything else. Of course, I never say that, I just keep my mouth shut and smile as I walk away.

I have no great desire to be surrounded by people (which is lucky really). I do have a hankering for books though - as you may have noticed...... and cats/dogs are generally much more pleasant to be around than your average human being.....
