Ooh, does it work in cars as well?

Just ran across a photo of the Titanic you may have seen before:

I do believe it does work in cars - with some slight modification (only applicable to the driver - yes, it's that customisable!)

I've seen lots of pix of Titanic but I think that one's new to me. Have you checked for the newspaper headlines from the time? Some of them are very bizarre - almost as if they're from another timeline - yes, they're that different! As if journalists would make things up just to sell papers...!!

Regarding the Titanic incident specifically? I haven't, but I wonder what my local paper said about it that week..

Looking through microfilm is always interesting. The advertisements manage to be formal even in their excitement. The ads section reveals a lot of the little details of life back then -- steamship schedules, livery stable prices, that sort of thing. Once I read a story about some power lines falling on two women falling. The dresses were scorched, it revealed, with nary a word said about the women!

The minutiae of history is fascinating. We take so much for granted and often assume that things have always been like this. Reading history can be quite shocking at times, even more so when you read contemporary accounts of things and can't believe what people thought about the world. It really shows how much has changed to get us where we are today - and how much could change in the future too! Things are not fixed and never have been. That, I often think, is the most valuable lesson we can take from History.
