Permit me to take your light-hearted posting as an excuse for a serious comment to ponder: I've always had heartburn about the whole idea of babysitting; parents always ought to avoid relegating the care of their child(ren) to someone else. How's that for being an old-fashioned thought!
I though that's essentially what extended families are for? Farming kids out to strangers is always a bit risky but a lot of people don't have much choice if they want to have enough money to get by on.
Personally I don't think I ever had a babysitter. Nor did my brother or sister.
