i had to visit the dentist today: that put a crimp in my reading habits (although i must confess, i devote entirely too much time doing crossword puzzles- the American type, not the British: the latter are totally incomprehensible...)
I didn't realise that there are cultural differences in crossword puzzles - not that I can *do* crossword puzzles.... except for the odd straightforward clue.

Indeed it is. I think the only time I go more than a few hours without reading (not counting when I'm asleep) is when I'm *really* ill.
