@ Mudpuddle: I believe that the time for a general nuclear war has passed us by (thankfully). It was touch and go there for a while in the 60's and 70's but cooler heads prevailed. In the future there might just possibly be a limited 'exchange' - India/Pakistan are the obvious candidates - but its much more likely that some group will set on off somewhere, probably in the Middle East or Israel.
@ Sarah: Indeed. I remember The Cold War.... Good times... [grin] Excitement levels were definitely 'heightened'.
Pakistan and India (by which I mean "Pakistan") are probably more of a worry than Russia and US these days. Or Israel and Iran...I don't know what Pakistan-Irani relations are like, but if a target in Iran was close enough to Pakistan, it might get unsettled, and then India might get concerned.....fortunately they all have China glaring at them, I suppose.
Pakistan/India is definitely a 'hot' point. I doubt very much if Israel will ever nuke Iran. They might be stupid enough to attack it but, well, that's a long time coming. So no great surprise there.
I still think the next nuke to go off will be by a non-State actor. Who they will be... ? Well, that's a LONG list!
