LOL - After some resistance I finally joined the World of Warcraft mafia... LOVED it for years. I had 16 characters - 8 Horde and 8 Alliance - of many different races & classes. All female (of course) and all with 'girly' names. Plus there was an achieve for killing X of the enemy in Y seconds which I got - so I could add 'Jenkins' as a name. So, for example, my Undead Mage was Betty Jenkins... and it was *really* funny seeing her standing next to someone called OggBlog the Destroyer of Azeroth... [grin]
I liked Starcraft for a while - although like a lot of RTS games it was all get resources - build ships - attack enemy - repeat... It got old after a while.
I think I enjoyed the character building & the open world exploring of WoW as much as anything else. The combat was essentially a means to an end plus I loved the environment they built. Often VERY pretty!
My favorite part of StarCraft is the marines. I can't help but yell "GO GO GO!" in traffic. I can definitely get the appeal of character-building and the open world, though. Did you ever play KoToR? I enjoyed some offline games like that...Jedi Academy was one I played several times, because I liked developing different characters stories (based on the Force powers I invested in) despite the appalling physical model limitations. (There's like...one white dude, one white girl, one brown dude, one brown girl, and some aliens. More humans, please, this isn't Star Trek where the aliens have cultures and are actually interesting.)
I've never played any of the Star Wars games (not being a fan!) although some of my posse has - with mixed reactions. I do like a game where you can customise the character.... Although some go *really* overboard. I have a gaming buddy who finds choice VERY problematic, so some games are a nightmare to start with him as he takes AGES to pick and modify his character!

Ahhh, gotcha. I never got into any Blizzard games, oddly enough, though I did play the early Terran missions in StarCraft.
