I only started buying actual records *really* late - as a student in the 80's. My friend was a DJ at the student union and I helped him out some times... So I started buying records I liked to hear/dance to so I could play them. I had quite a collection of 45's after 2-3 years. I still have them in boxes under my bed... [grin]
Before that, from around age 13 or so, I was buying cassettes before moving on the CD's eventually. Most of my cassettes ended up in landfill. I have HUNDREDS of CDs though!

Mine was Ringo Starr, “You’re sixteen.”
