It does somewhat surprise me (sarcasm mode definitely *ON*) that a political party that supposedly wants small government and rejects the idea of *any* government getting in the way of people's personal decisions seems to spend a LOT of time and energy talking about, and legislating where they can, ways to restrict who people can marry, when they can decide to have children - or not - and even their preference (so far) for who they would like you to worship....

It's their brilliant plan - destroy programs that help people, but put nothing in place to continue to help people. Fabulous idea.
