Yeah! I really get sick to my tummy with some of the politicians who wrap themselves in The Flag...(The Wolves In Sheeps clothing...!)

yeah, weird ..
it almost seems a competition to see which party can claim to be the most patriotic.

When I see crap like that it just shows me who not to vote for. I'll be working the polls for our primary on Tuesday. 5:45 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., which includes set-up and break-down of the voting machines, plus counting and re-counting until everything comes out right. Plus it will cost me a day of vacation from work to do it. And we wonder why more people aren't out there volunteering to do this!

They're really big on it down here in Arizona. Both senators are Republican and all but one congressmen are Republican. Every election sign has a huge flag on it.

I don't understand American patriotism at all. I guess most of that is because we Brit's don't really 'do' patriotism the way you Yanks do... [grin]. Also I think that we regard all the flag stuff as... well, rather tacky....

I suppose that the obvious impotence of the Democrats is that they don't want to appear unpatriotic so feel that they can't criticise Bush too much...?

Strange old world.....

Better wave the flag or you'll be called a traitor. Better look and sound dumb or you'll be called an elitist. Jingoistic anti-intellectual pride --- welcome to America.
