"... or whatever" -- I love that. So true.

That's too scary to be funny. Bush would love nothing better than to get into yet another war, something to take his mind off Iraq and Afghanistan.

Not too while a go I would have said there was no chance we would go to war with Iran. Now I'm not to sure. Maybe not an invasion, but at least a Clinton style bombing/missile campaign. Especially with all of the anti-war presidential candidates being considered "fringe".

*shrug* I'm more worried about what Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad (from such films as "I'm bombing Israel today... wait... maybe tomorrow... hell let's make it a media circus!" and "I'm only as crazy as my media audience allows me to be.")

I don't think anyone neccessarily needs to attack him. I just think that the speeding bullet train of Iran is headed for more than just US.

On a gleeful historical and purely hypothetical note (it's also late and I just wrote a LONG response to CK and I want to say something damning), I'd love to see Iran give Israel that old "college try". If the arab nations think for one second that Israel as any weaker than when it kicked the crap out of them 40+ years ago... teehee

That'd be a hoot. We'd all get new world maps next year where Iran (and the arab countries that would inevitably come to its aid) are all smoking craters.

The UN probably wouldn't want Israel to attack anyone (most likely even retalitory) but that's ok, cause the UN probably doesn't want alot of things to happen that still do.

Gosh, what a wacky world we live in.

*I apologize for this blazen display of crap. I just think that situation over there is too frustrating for cool logical reason at 11:30pm. Hope you at least enjoyed it. I do a side business in humor when I'm not a stuffy Christian.* =)

Goodnight, don't let the evil dictators bite!

Not just at 11:30... pretty much any time, I'd say. I really feel like we're all on a speeding bullet train to who knows where and none of us can stop it....

I liked that too dbackdad. [grin].

Yup. It's stupid, short sighted and with unknown but highly dangerous consequences. Sound like something the Bush crowd would jump at.

Indeed. I shudder to think what the consequences would be. Iran will certainly not ignore any attack... or back down in the face of US/Israeli agression.

sirkolgate said: I don't think anyone neccessarily needs to attack him. I just think that the speeding bullet train of Iran is headed for more than just US.

Why? Because of inflamatory political rhetoric? That's hardly a reason to start bombing anyone. Even if Iran gets nukes - so what - it will just mean that they'll neutralise the nukes the Isralies already have.

sirkolgate said: I'd love to see Iran give Israel that old "college try". If the arab nations think for one second that Israel as any weaker than when it kicked the crap out of them 40+ years ago... teehee.

Israel is certainly the local 'superpower' in the region. It could take on 2-3 of its neighbours reasonably easily (even after it got a kicking in Lebanon). I doubt very much if any individual Arab nation intends to attack Isreal. At the moment it seems to be quite the opposite... which is a *very* bad idea.

I doubt very much if *anyone* wants to see nukes used in the Middle East - though you do seem to be quite gleeful at the prospect. I'm not normally one to quote scripture but: "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called Children of God" comes to mind.....

sirkolgate said: The UN probably wouldn't want Israel to attack anyone (most likely even retalitory) but that's ok, cause the UN probably doesn't want alot of things to happen that still do.

I don't think that many people want Israel to attack anyone... except those hoping for the Rapture in the near future.

laura said: I really feel like we're all on a speeding bullet train to who knows where and none of us can stop it....

Well... the leaders of the countries involved can stop it - simply by not letting it happen. Wars only happen if anyone shows up to fight them.

CK delighted sirKolgate by emphasising: I doubt very much if *anyone* wants to see nukes used in the Middle East - though you do seem to be quite gleeful at the prospect. CyberKitty... I don't want to see war anywhere. I am not 'gleeful' of anything. I also don't want to hasten in the 'rapture', but thank you for assuming I do. You know what they say about ass-u-me...?

Nukes are not the answer, but I think some arabs need to forget the sting of defeat and get over Israel being a country and being where it is.

Mainly my comment was in a joking context. I don't seriously want war in the middle east, but since Ahmadi-Nejad is so intent on being a jackass then I want to point out some 'possible' consequences.

And finally... I'm a Christian, yes, but if I sometimes make 'off' comments that's just human nature. I'm not trying to be a war monger, or a hard case, just expressing my opinion with a little 'flair'.

I'm entitled to be less than perfect just like everyone else.

CK admitted: Well... the leaders of the countries involved can stop it - simply by not letting it happen. Wars only happen if anyone shows up to fight them.

Iran is kinda like a very nasty dog on a stout leash that you know is going to tear a piece out of you if you mess with it. If you don't mess with it, it's just a nasty dog.

The question with Iran isn't "When do we attack Iran?" but rather "When is the leash going to break?"

I'm not talking another preemptive strike, just reminding everyone that ignoring the white elephant doesn't make it go away.

I'm not saying CK was saying we should just 'ignore' Iran, since that's not what she said. However, I'm just curious who's going to go pet this dog without losing a hand.

I've made the mistake before so I'll tell you "she" is a "he". And if he isn't saying it I will.

We should just ignore Iran.

There I said it. Russia had over ten thousand nukes pointed at us for decades and we managed not to go to war with them. What is it about a third world country that is literally broke and going through hyper-inflation to produce ONE bomb that will ultimately collapse their economy in a MUCH quicker fashion than it took to destroy the USSR (since the commies started with quite a bit more).

Ignore them.

My mistake. You just came across as 'gleeful' from your joking post...

sirkolgate said: I think some arabs need to forget the sting of defeat and get over Israel being a country and being where it is.

Probably most of them have - people do tend to have very long memories for such things though. I know people who still hate the Germans for WW2.

sirkolgate said: I don't seriously want war in the middle east, but since Ahmadi-Nejad is so intent on being a jackass then I want to point out some 'possible' consequences.

If we bombed jackass leaders of countries there would be a bomber in the air somewhere 24/7 365.

Don't worry about it - I make 'off' comments in my sleep.

sirkolgate said: I'm entitled to be less than perfect just like everyone else.

Indeed you are. I never expect anyone to be anywhere near perfect. I learnt *that* lesson at an early age!

sirkolgate said: I'm not talking another preemptive strike, just reminding everyone that ignoring the white elephant doesn't make it go away.

Is there any need to make Iran 'go away'...?

sirkolgate said: However, I'm just curious who's going to go pet this dog without losing a hand.

The EU seems to be doing OK.

Thanks scott... outed *again* [rotflmao]. I just think its funny that so many people think I'll a girl... then again people are confused by my orientation IRL. [chuckle].

Very good question. Does it *really* matter if Iran got the Bomb? After all lots of countries now have nukes. Hardly anyone is concerned about Pakistan having nukes and they're not exactly a stable country.... So what if Iran has nuclear weapons - is the possibility of them producing one worth going to war with them for? I don't think so. As scott said: ignore them.

[I don't know why but I find that agreeing with scott disturbs me but it does..... I really should stop being disturbed... he's a very sensible guy... probably].

It's the whole "cyberkitten" thing. You know that.
How's it goin'?
I don't know about Iran but N. Korea scares the crap out of me. That's what I always say...well, not always but anytime it comes up.
:)

Indeed. Still amuses me though!

Sadie asked: How's it goin'?

Not too bad actually. I'm settling in to a new job which is fun and varied (with a good crowd of people) and I've been accepted at a local University to do a part-time course this year which should be a *lot* of work but a lot of fun too. Lots to look forward to...

How's things with you?

Sadie said: I don't know about Iran but N. Korea scares the crap out of me.

Yup. You have an unstable military regime with nukes in a *very* sensitive part of the world. It's not going to end well is it?
