Ugh, yes. I'm really tired of "Reality" TV. My question is: Do people realize it's not really real? Or is it like some people who insist that Wrestling is real?

I find some of it fun - like LA Ink, but that's cuz my artist is on there. But most of it from COPS all the way to The Apprentice is simply obnoxious.

Oh I hate 'Reality TV' with a passion - I really do. I think most of it should be re-named 'Humiliation TV' because that is quite simply its aim.... and the rest of it (as with the majority of advertising) to to make as many people as possible feel as inadequate as possible.

Oh woe Big Brother has finished, what am i going to do of an evening.

And now you say wrestling is also not real. My world of reality is crumbling around me.

Amen to that CK. I can't stand the stuff. It's so demeaning and embarassing what people will do for money or their 15 minutes of fame.

It *does* seem that people will do (almost) anything for fleeting fame and money doesn't it. 'Reality TV' is not exactly one of mankinds finest moments.

It might actually be interesting to see what happened to these people after they left the shows to see how their lives changed - if at all. It might be a lesson to the rest of us that happiness is related to neither fame nor a quick injection of cash.

Chico does Butlins regularly now.

And Peter Andre doesn't play Brean sands any more;-)

umm, Girls aloud still exist and sell records I think.

That pretty much does it for my reality TV knowledge.

I suppose it depends what they were looking for. Those that just "want to sing on tv" should be happy woth the cruel and warped 5 minutes of fame they are` given.

Or maybe not.

Yeah, that cartoon hits its mark!

I think that was one of those seminal moments for me in college, when I realized (*poof!*) that the whole business--network, broadcast television--exists for the benefit and remuneration of a small group of people. Other people. It's nothing to do with what's good or edifying or uplifting or beneficial to those of us who are expected to watch. Good shows are deemed good because they sell advertising.

The last 20 years have witnessed an ongoing lowering and lowering of the bar until what is left is baldly crass and manipulative and offensive. It's entirely about titillating.

Unfortunately most TV is designed to sell us stuff - either things we don't need or shit we don't have to put up with. These days I hardly ever watch it. I'd much rather sit down with a good book.

Ugh. I loathe reality TV. Vile, hideous, and totally pointless. I cannot think of a bigger waste of my time than sitting in front of Big Brother. I seriously can't believe people actually watch it. Yet I know they do... I think my brain just refuses to process such ludicrous information.

Very true skywolf. 'Reality TV' is an awful development. I do really wonder why people watch this type of rubbish.
