A Few Good Quotes:

In the long run, nothing can withstand reason and experience, and the contradiction religion offers to both is palpable. ~ Sigmund Freud

Life in Lubbock, Texas, taught me two things: One is that God loves you and you're going to burn in hell. The other is that sex is the most awful, filthy thing on earth and you should save it for someone you love. ~ Butch Hancock

Making fun of born-again Christians is like hunting dairy cows with a high powered rifle and scope. ~ P.J. O'Rourke

P.J. O'Rourke is one of the few Republicans that I actually like to read. He's funnier than hell.

Sigmund: How does Freud define "reason"? He probably hasn't read much about epistimology in the last 60 or so years. Since an insignificant proportion of humans are or have ever been atheists, it seems experience is (at least in some sense) on the side of religion.

Butch: Just one more reason I'm glad I didn't grow up in Lubbock.

P.J.: That comment is about those who make fun of Christians, not Christians themselves. So then, what does it say about P.J. (and you, C.K.)?

Personally I don't think that truth is a numbers game. Also the vast majority of people over time have been polytheists. It seems like experience is against the existence of one God....

I just *knew* that there had to be something we could agree on!

Taking pot-shots at static targets is a good way to practice your aim - even if you don't get as much fun (or as much XP) as the more difficult shots. It does keep youe 'eye' in though...

A person who wants to improve their skills practices with opponents at their skill level or better. Anything less is a not a "good way to practice" or even a waste of time, but actually detrimental since it serves only to foster over-confidence in one's abilities.

I certainly aim at that. Though it can take a while to figure out what 'skill level' the other person is debating at...
