I do like a pilot with a few (million) miles under his/her belt - especially when I'm on their plane.
Imagine how the Hudson river thing might have gone down with someone two days out of flight school? Good training is vital but experience definitely counts.

Pilots are one of those professions where you prefer to see some grey hair when you get on that plane....
