I truly believe that about my first real serious relationship. Talk about Toxic People. We brought out the most obsessive traits in each other. It was just awful! He also loved playing head games, which I truly despise. Luckily I survived my "destiny" and am in a much better place now.

I *used* to think there was a 'one' for me somewhere. I kept 'finding' her only for it to turn into a disaster. Only late in life did I realise that whoever you love is 'the one' - but you only realise that later....

I think, if we're lucky, we can find a number of wonderful relationships. Some might touch you deeper than others, some might last longer than others, but each is important in its own way. There was a poem I read by Javan, I don't know where the book is now or I'd give you a direct quote, but he has really great relationship poems. Anyway, one of his poems uses flowers and trees as anaologies for short-term and long-term loves. Both different, but both necessary in the greater scheme of things. He's a poet from North Carolina, I believe. I liked his poetry because it didn't rhyme and sounded like regular conversation that happened to have very deep truths in it. Oh, heck, I think I'll go look real quick and see if I can find his books. I have at least 3 of them.

Darn, not on any of my bookshelves here on the second floor. Must be in a box in the attic somewhere. I may fish them out later and share one or two to let you see what I mean.
