Not being an Apple user, why would you want any Microsoft products running on your machine? I think MS sucks!

I've been using MS products for *many* years and I'm still unimpressed - but if Macs were so good why don't I have one on my desk @ work? If they're a superior product why don't they dominate the market?

Now that's a cartoon I can appreciate. My world is definitely Windows because it's the world of all my clients. If I had to rely on my Mac clients, I'd be starving. Windows PC's are like the gift that keeps giving. They break, they get infected, and they are ubiquitous.

Macs are definitely the superior product but they are way over-priced. If they competed with PC's at the same price break, they would easily win.

CK said, "If they're a superior product why don't they dominate the market." -- The market is strewn with products that are inferior. It's called marketing. It's called questionable business practices.

But, I'm not exactly a MS hater either. It works for me and I know all the version inside and out.

As someone who works on UNIX for a living, I find Windows machines completely inferior.

Mac on the other hand, best thing they ever did was switching to UNIX. Putting Windows on a Mac is a pretty sad thing to see.

Answer to why they don't dominate the market - cost. They just cost too darn much for the temptation to cross over into an actual sale.

£369 for this 17" Windows lappy, it would cost 5 times that for a 17" MacBook and I've gotten used to the big screen.

I still have the little voices trying to get me to download the MacOS thing so I can do a Hackintosh conversion on my desktop.

Bah. Has nothing to do with cost and everything to do with marketing and Microsoft being a monopoly.

If cost really was the factor, we'd all be running Linux, which is superior in every aspect to Windows.

The thing about Linux, Microsoft has successfully launched a FUD smear campaign against Linux so people are scared of it.

In case you don't know what FUD is - it's "Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt."

Who would've thought this cartoon would have generated so many comments.... [laughs]

Each of the camps have their own cult ... especially Mac and Linux. And I say that lovingly. Those two have a cult because they actually have some merit. But they are very territorial. I work in all 3 worlds.
