There's definitely something about them that hits you at the gut level. I guess it's because they've been part of human existence well into pre-history.
They are also incredibly loyal - I mean off-the-scale loyal! Much more so than people....
I'm definitely going to have one when I retire and move to the country... Maybe two.... BIG ones!
I would recommend German Shepherds as they have been the smartest, most loyal and easiest to train of any breed I've had, and I've had countless dogs in my life. That said, there are also some amazing mutts in shelters too. DNA roulette is a funny thing.
