Technically, if the power to destroy the Earth is in our power, it's NOT an indifferent and we can judge it.

Now, if the Earth were to be destroyed by something outside our control, then it IS an indifferent, and emoting about it is pointless.


Stoicism aside, though, if the Earth were about to be destroyed I doubt anyone would be models of apatheos..

I think he's saying that after the Earth was destroyed there would be no one around to feel sad therefore, post-event, it wouldn't be sad.

Sadness is a human construct. No humans = no sadness.

Basically, yes. Things like beauty have no independent existence, therefore no one to perceive something as beautiful is the same as saying things are no longer beautiful.
