okay... although i'm old and pretty well resigned to ragnarok here fairly soon... humans don't live long enough to overcome their tribal disabilities, i'm afraid... logic and common sense are only a froth riding on top of a sea of genetic peculiarities...

Oh, I think as individuals our brains are 'plastic' enough to think and believe a great many things. The history of ideas from around the world certainly teaches us that. I don't believe that we are simply robots, programmed by our DNA and millions/billions of years of Evolution. Nor do I believe that we are simply slaves to the culture we are accidentally born into. We have, so it appears at least, Free Will. We are, as individuals, who we *choose* to be.... by and large. [grin]

Oh, and if our species is still around in any appreciable numbers in 250 years I'll be very surprised - except I'll be dead long before that of course!

Not to forget that logic is a great way of making mistakes with confidence and that sense is *never* common.... [lol]

I have the resist, rebel, reclaim logo on my FB page as my profile picture. I don't look as good as she does resisting though. ;-)

I've been very angry, ranting, and agitating for people to act. Tonight was better as the people finally rose up and marched on our airports in reaction to President Aberrant's ridiculous ban on Muslims and refugees. It gave me a moment of hope. I am still discouraged by long-term friends who are noticeably silent about all of this. How are you doing with Brexit? I heard something about your Parliament still needing to vote on it. Is this true?

I see he's had his first legal judgement against him. His 'style' of government seems to be by Executive Order, which is hardly democratic! I wonder who he's going to piss off next. Either he doesn't care about consequences or he doesn't understand that there will be any.... Truly bizarre watching it from over here.

Brexit is moving slowly forward. The Government lost their Supreme Court appeal as expected so Parliament will get to vote on it (and much more importantly DEBATE it in public. That's the bit the government didn't want to happen. They'll win the vote (99% probable) but it'll damage them. After that they'll move to Article 50 and the leave process will start.... After that it gets REALLY interesting!

I still think its the most stupid decision we've EVER made. People at work either simply won't talk about it or dismiss any potential problem (or actual bad results) as either temporary or worth the price of 'taking back control'. Sad really. So many people with their heads in the sand.
