i like Tubb a lot... at one time i was addicted to her Dumarest novels... i remember laying in bed a whole weekend and reading one after another when i was much younger... she died too young, imo...

Wow, the 'protective suits' worn in the Tholian Web episode look a lot like this. Of course, their fabric looks more like curtains...but the design is so similar I wonder if someone didn't copy it from this cover?

Well, this was published in 1954 but the protective suits look very much like the standard suits worn by heavy duty fire fighters - made from asbestos. This sort of thing would have been completely useless as protection from radiation of course. Looks suitably dramatic though!

@Mudpuddle - Edwin Charles Tubb (15 October 1919 – 10 September 2010) was a British writer of science fiction, fantasy and western novels. The author of over 140 novels and 230 short stories and novellas, Tubb is best known for The Dumarest Saga (US collective title: Dumarest of Terra), an epic science-fiction saga set in the far future. Michael Moorcock wrote, "His reputation for fast-moving and colourful SF writing is unmatched by anyone in Britain."

So I think when you said that "she died too young" you must be thinking of some other author....
