Welcome to the thoughts that wash up on the sandy beaches on my mind. Paddling is encouraged.. but watch out for the sharks.
Hmmmm. Education has become awfully expensive and not very efficient here in the U.S., and even so-called educated people are often woefully ignorant. Maybe we should cut our losses and limit education to selected people based on abilities and merits. How's that for provocative!
I think that the problem with Education is that no one seems particularly clear what it is *for*.Is it to create a useful and productive workforce? Is it to create a cohesive society? Is it to produce self-directed life-time learners? Is it (ultimately) to teach people how to think but not what to think?None of the above? All of the Above? To be honest I learnt far more on my own than I ever did at school. But I was a rather unusual child..... Still am, actually!
who was it that said: "the best education is a collection of good books."
