I hope it's cotton-tailed rabbit and not swamp rabbit, because swamp rabbit has to be parboiled to be edible.

Might do well in Australia.

@ Stephen: Really? Is it because of what they eat?

@ Fred: Indeed. Anything (more) to get rid of the buggers!

@ RT: Never (knowingly) had rabbit. It's possible back in my student days I had it in curry but I'm not sure (being flat broke we are in some 'questionable locations). Not chance of doing so now though as I'm a Vegetarian.

@Cyberkitten: I would think so, since technically the swamp rabbit is a cottontail. But I'm passing on second hand information, here...oddly, at breakfast this week, my companions' discussion turned to the edibility of various creatures. (We were talking about homes and pests, then squirrels and shooting vs trapping them, and then eating squirrels that are shot, and then squirrels as compared to rabbits, etc). I've never tried any small marsupials...just alligator sausage.

LOl - When you ask for a gator sausage to you say: and make it snappy? What does it taste like? Chicken?

I think humans have evolved to eat almost anything. It's a useful skill when you don't have claws or particularly big teeth..

Biologists have three basic categories of critters based on diet--herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat meat, and omnivores just about anything--humans are classified as omnivores, or so I remember from long long ago.
