I never had the luxury of a husband who helped with that, which is one of many reasons I got divorced. That said, when you're a single parent, you have to coordinate with other parents to meet the needs and schedules of the kids. I regularly took other people's kids to practices and games, to bank time, so someone would be there for my kids if I couldn't get off work for something.
@ Stephen: [grin] Whatever happened to computer games, books and bus passes...?
@ Sarah: Indeed. One of our team @ work (divorced with two teenagers) runs around constantly ferrying them to & from various activities. No wonder she's exhausted most of the time!
Right?? Eleanor is still four, so she is not heavily involved in anything yet. She takes two dance classes, which are back to back on Saturdays, and swim lessons on Wednesdays. She shows interest in other activities like soccer and basketball, but I think two activities for now is enough for her little body!

BIRTH CONTROL, PEOPLE...
LOL - I'm *so* glad I don't have kids!
Plus the "Who's Zoe?" really cracked me up....

If I have kids, they will have to learn "extracurricular activities" from the dictionary or sitcoms... :p
Number of kids is not the problem, it is number of activities parents feel the need to sign their kids up for. Let them be kids and just PLAY!
@ V V: Sounds like *hard* work!
