As if there were any doubt before, I think we are kindred spirits. This is pretty much a summary of my default levels of friendship as well!

i'm too old for #3 and not smart enough for #2... #1 isn't possible any more so i'll take the fourth door, total insouciance...

Nice word choice! I had not heard 'insouciance' in ages until I read it in a book earlier this week, and now here you are using it as well. Guess that means it needs to be back in my vocabulary!

@ Sarah: Meeting a kindred is good... weird, but good. It's just so bizarre sometimes when you meet someone and within minutes feel so at ease with them that you feel like you've known them for years. I've done that maybe.... 5-6 times in my life. I met someone with work a few years back. Within maybe 30 minutes we were in each others personal space without any awkwardness and chatting away. I think someone even asked at one point how long we'd know each other. We looked at each other and said "Erm... maybe 2... hours...." When I met up with her some months later we started up a conversation like I'd just popped out the room for a few minutes. Weird... [grin]

@ Mudpuddle: Tried crosswords from time to time. Never really took to them. I do like certain kinds of puzzles, even word puzzles, just not crosswords. I guess you have to have certain kind of brain wiring to appreciate them...

I have done that too, though again rarely. Sometimes your heart just knows when you have found a platonic soulmate.

I can certainly see where the whole 'knew each other in a previous life' idea came from!

british Xwords are entirely a horse of a different color... i've tried occasionally, but they're impossible for me...

Never thought of the cultural differences! I'd just assumed that a crossword is a crossword.... Apparently not!!

american ones are mostly just definitions, with occasional puns and word play... British ones are that and cryptograms besides, with a whole list of other peculiar rules and definitions... very complicated...
