It's fucking awful and I hate it. I hate all the testing that is 'required'. They tell us 'don't teach to the test', but that's exactly what they want us to do so scores are high and funding continues. It is disgusting that funding can in any way be based on test scores/performance.

@ Mudpuddle: My schooling was OK but not exactly stellar.Met some good friends, learnt a few things..... [grin]

@ Sarah: I was lucky enough to go through much of my schooling without too much need to pass test after test and hit target after target. From what I can tell of the arguments flying around over here is that EVERYTHING is (or at least was) target driven and OF COURSE schools will teach to the test. That's how you keep your funding. DUH!!! It's the whole 'if it can't be measured it can't be real' nonsense. So they design metrics that not *actually* measure what they want to measure and that perverts the entire system so that real teaching actually diminishes. Yeah, THAT makes sense!
