My hubby found this on twitter this morning: Queen Elizabeth has appointed 15 prime ministers during her reign, if this goes on, King Charles will have the same number by the time he takes the crown. ;)
LOL. I guess this is what it feels like to live through History.... She was a utter disgrace though! Although I wonder who she's going to be replaced by. There's even talk about bringing Boris back..... [rotflmao]
Whoever they elect will probably want to stabilise things a bit first but I'm guessing we'll have a General Election next May - at which point the Tories get eviscerated.... Here's hoping!
I've been reading about trying to understand the context -- something to do with a vote on fracking, which everyone is apparently against. They should hold that vote again in mid-winter and see how everyone feels. I wasn't aware the UK even had frackable territory!
@ Steven: I think the Fracking vote was essentially the final straw. The Government wanted to allow or speed up fracking (yes, we have some here) and essentially said it wasn't a confidence vote on Liz Truss. Then, minutes before the vote they were told it WAS a confidence vote! Because of that Tory MP's were TOLD to vote for it *OR ELSE*. It all got VERY Chaotic and a lot of MPs were made very angry by the whole thing. In the grand scheme of things and in normal times it wasn't much but at the time it just blew up in the governments face and made them look even more incompetent than they already were.
@ Marianne: Well, 3 PMs in the same year and 2 of them without an election...? Not good is it? I'm guessing we'll be having an election (and a new government) next May.

Good luck, Kitten. I think you should have new elections now but that's just me thinking it would be more democratic. ;)
