I’ve actually been thinking about hiding people in our basement. How that would work, how much food, water, and things they might need would cost. Putting up blackout shades in the windows. Let me know what I’m forgetting.
I've thought about this in the past, while reading a book about people under the USSR. The problem is, technology is so far advanced now. With thermal imaging and such, I don't know if it's possible to evade it.
I did, naturally, wonder how MASS deportations are actually going to work in a country of 400 MILLION firearms.... I suggest that its not going to be without 'difficulty'. What's MUCH more likely to happen is that there will be an *increase* in deportations (say 10%) which they'll declare as a victory & more on to something else...
I do have a number of books coming up on the French resistance and tales of living inside the USSR to come. They might come in handy - get them before they're banned over there!!
I've thought about this too, and how to even help. Eleanor and I live in an apartment so there's nowhere to hide anyone. But I think about many of my students and their families, so I have to do SOMETHING.

Yes we basically need the playbook of the French resistance, ASAP.
'The Art of Resistance - My Four Years in the French Resistance' by Justus Rosenberg.
I read that one and loved it. Will have to read it again, now that we may truly have to use it.
We should always try and help those in need, especially if they are oppressed by others. Not that we can always hide someone.
Very true.
