I agree with this, but the genocide against Palestine was the breaking point for a lot of people. All Harris had to do was commit to ending it and she would have won. She’s not a perfect candidate, nor was it okay for the democrats to completely subvert the system by not having a primary, but she was what they had at the moment. I love Tim Walz and would’ve loved to see him become VP, then president. I hope he’s a candidate in 2028, you know, if we have elections anymore. It infuriates me to no end that dems had FOUR YEARS of Biden’s presidency to prepare for the 2024 election, then have the nerve to act shocked that they lost.

That is a great advice. But don't take the bus going in the opposite direction!

Although not a perfect choice it does seem that a vote not for Harris was in fact a vote for Trump. You were going to get one of them, so I think it'd be better to choose the best one - or at the very least the less bad one. But that's all water under the bridge now.... Much like Thatcher here in the 80's I think a Trump Presidency is going to politically wake a LOT of people up to how important voting is. I think many things are going to be different in the US when he and his MAGA Movement are gone. At least I hope so!

Definitely - metaphorically & in real life too. I've seen enough people get off the bus after one or two stops and sheepishly walk to the other side of the road to get another bus going back the way they came!

This seems like a reasonable idea!

Very much. I think that we can expect too much from our political choices. As I've posted before - a vote isn't a love letter, its a chess move.

True. Someone who grew up in a village and then went to university in a city once told me that she got on the right bus but in the wrong direction. She had taken the correct number but wasn't aware that buses go in two directions.

@ Marianne: When I first moved here when they were still building parts of the estate, there was a small bus on my route which just said 'Circular' on the front. It was quite descriptive... but on certain parts of the route you had zero idea which way it was going unless you asked! Crazy and *very* annoying for the driver I suspect!!

I don't know.. this viewpoint is why a lot of people voted for Trump. In fact, most people I talk to voted for him reluctantly as their closest bus route. Basically, we need ranked-choice voting.

Unfortunately such a change in voting has to be agreed by those who benefit from the existing form.... That's rather unlikely to happen to be honest.

Oh, and you (we all) need a politically engaged & educated electorate to make Democracy a truly viable system.... I don't think that such an informed population exists anywhere....

Oh, that is annoying. At least they should give a direction.
