I’m a little confused with this (movie?) poster. Does it got to do with the story?

Its from the computer game which came out in 1989.

Although that font looks like the SimCity 3000 font. LGR has some nice dives into the history of SimCity if you're not already familiar. This game is so special to me: the first time I ever played a computer game, it was SimCity 2000 in a Walmart display computer. Such a shame that EAxis dropped the ball after SimCity 4, but happily Cities Skylines was there to fill in the game. I still listen to the SimCity 3000 music, sometimes while playing The Sims 2 / The Sims 4.

Not sure... Its dated Sept 1991, so whatever version came out that year. I think SimCity 2000 was my first experience with this franchise too. GREAT game. Skylines is FUN too, although getting *good* traffic flow is HARD! [lol]

My problem with it these days is that I just don't have time for thinking games, despite how much fun I used to have with them. I used to sit and watch a Commandos map for hours, discerning the patterns in German movements I could exploit to accomplish the objective. Now I spend a half-hour trying to sprint jump in Wolfenstein The New Colossus and go "Eh, I'll just go back to RDR2 instead."

I'm with you on that one. I used to be able to completely fixate on a campaign, plan, fight, regroup, attack again, try strategies, take (and hold) ground, by-pass defences for HOURS. These days 40 minutes to an hour and I'm DONE unless something new and interesting shows up. I've given up on complete games after 40 minutes because of a silly quest or a pointless obstacle.... I just don't have the patience any more.

Love love love SIM City. My original SNES still works, playing the original is so satisfying.

The game killed my PC once.... I had disasters turned on and one of the nuclear power stations had a meltdown... The PC crashed and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Luckily none of the nuclear waste escaped!

For a good time, completely fill a map up with zoning and development, then spam the disaster button. Rebuilding a city from that kind of disaster was wicked fun. I wound up creating functional cells that eventually grew to connect back together. The only thing that wasn't recovered was one of the nuclear plants, and I just planted a forest there. Not realistic, but then again neither are nuclear plants without safeguards --- unless you work at Chernobyl and are in the mood for stress tests when the reactor has been poisoned....

Oh, Chernobyl had safeguards.... just not very good ones! Having disasters on was FUN though... Pretty manic sometimes, especially that one time I just left it running and went to work. I was quite surprised that the city was still standing when I got back home...... [lol]

That’s crazy! I would go to sleep with it running because I wanted that money. But Godzilla almost always made an appearance even without disasters turned on 🙄 lol
