I was rather surprised by Ireland. I thought they armed their police as standard. Maybe they stopped after the Good Friday Agreement? Interesting though that a goodly few are islands... I wonder if that's significant? Good to see us in the 10% that don't feel the need to arm our police!

And here ours are armed like our military. Ireland does surprise me though.
We do have some - specials and regular. I saw one a while back in my local supermarket. They pop in off the motorway for snacks I think. As he was checking out the sandwiches I said "Is that a Glock?" pointing to his holster. "Yes" he said and (rather proudly I thought) told me its type & model number and said that they'd got them. Then he asked me if I knew about guns... "Only from Call of Duty" I said and we both laughed.
