it does make me sad. Kids don't know how to play anymore. Part of it is technology, yes, but part of it is also the focus here on Kindergarten being all about academics now. It's so sad.

I was on the generation that was told in no uncertain terms to get outside & don't come back until the street lights came on. I remember coming back a few times with blood on me - sometimes my own, sometimes not. It was just life - falling off things, hitting each other with rocks, getting bitten by weird creatures.... Play, I think they called it [lol]

Yep! Especially during the summer, we were out the door fater breakfast, sometimes ate lunch outside in our swimsuits, had to 'rest' for an hour after lunch when I was still young enough to need it, but then back outside until dinner time and you never knew if you were eating at a friend's house that night or if friends were coming with you, then back out again until it was dark enough to play ghost in the graveyard. Then we ran around like maniacs trying to scare each other, until parents started hollering at us to come inside.

Remember the TV advert thing: "Do You Know Where Your Kids Are?"

I don't remember seeing it as a kid, but I knew about it - I also just looked it up and apparently it ran into the late 90s?? I graduated in 2001
