I've never understood the 'hyphen thing'.... AFAIK the US is the only place to do it. I'm aware that its a reference to ancestry but everyone else has ancestors too.... without the hyphen. I certainly don't call myself Irish-British... That just sounds weird. I was born in England, so I'm English... which makes me British.... If people are interested I can say that I'm of Irish descent with some Scots in there from GOD knows where.... But that doesn't stop me being a Brit....
