I was sometimes criticised (or at least frowned at) for chatting @ work - especially to people outside my team. I said that I was 'networking' and 'building relationships' that might come in handy later if we needed stuff. At least it was *partially* true...
Hah! Nice thinking. I imagine if AIM was still a thing I'd be sneaking on it. As it is I use a Messages app that allows me to text-chat with people throughout the day.

You're not texting, you're "tending to my correspondence". Saw that phrase in a novel or diary and have retained it since.

'They' made the mistake of installing Chat on our networked PCs.... Just saying that it did NOT improve productivity.... [lol]
