"antifa" are just another group of rich white kids causing drama -- sometimes violent drama, as when they "took over" blocks of Seattle" -- to make themselves feel important. The only thing they have in common with Orwell is being from privileged backgrounds. Besides, being "against fascism" doesn't mean anything in itself: Mao and Stalin were "against fascism", and they were even worse than Hitler and far worse than ol' Benito.

Well, ANTIFA is an idea or an umbrella term, that's about it. Pretty much anyone who thinks of themselves as anti-Fascist. [side note: It does 'amuse' me when MAGA politicians say that they are anti anti-Fascists... AKA pro-Fascist... AKA Fascist....]

I wouldn't say that Orwell was 'privileged per se... Middle class sure, but that didn't really say much in the 1920's & 30's. Most of his life was spent trying to get by economically. He only really started to become the icon we know today just before he died of TB and never really profited from his writing.

Being against Fascism certainly isn't a *bad* thing... Sure Mao & Stalin killed a lot more people than Hitler ever did, but Hitler was *stopped* whereas M&S carried on for decades more. Just imagine how many peoples deaths H would've been responsible for if he *hadn't* been stopped? Extreme ideologies tend to have extreme human consequences. Saying which was 'worse' is seriously getting towards angels on the head of a pin territory.

Being against a group that CALLS itself "antifa" doesn't make anyone a fascist anymore than being against the organization "BLM" makes someone a Klucker or something similar. If I called myself the AntiPuppyMurder society and started bombing animal shelters that euthanize dogs when there are no other options, would that make people against me ProPuppyMurderers? ;-) antifa trolls are the same people who beat the hell out of a random Asian man because they THOUGHT he was Andy Ngo, a journalist who has exposed their criminality multiple times. Unfortunately Andy's multiple DIE cards (Asian, gay, etc) weren't enough to buy off the privlib (ooh, I just coined that accidentally) mob.

You can be against something without being for something else. My grandfather was against the Nazis and therefore, he was said to be a communist.

So much to say here, but so not worth the time. Facism is exactly what's happening in the US right now and it's only going to get worse.

The swing of the pendulum the other way will be interesting to watch - because it never settles back where it started.
